About Dr. Graham Ross Williams

Designation: Clinical Psychologist

Department: Psychology

Dr. Graham Ross Williams is a British clinical psychologist based in Dubai, known for his grounded, methodical and thoughtful approach to therapy. With over twenty years of experience working with children, teenagers, and adults, he brings together science, empathy, and practical understanding to help people find clarity and emotional balance in their lives.

Born and educated in Great Britain, Dr. Graham earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Clinical Psychology from the University of Kent, Canterbury. He is licensed both by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), reflecting his long-standing dedication to professional excellence and ethical care.

Before moving to Dubai, Dr. Graham spent many years working in the UK National Health Service (NHS), where he supported children, young people, and families facing challenges such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, behavioural concerns, and developmental conditions like ADHD. His early NHS work within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) shaped his belief that change happens when people feel truly seen and supported, not judged. Over time, his expertise grew to include adult and paediatric neuropsychology, trauma therapy, and maternity-related psychology. His doctoral research explored traumatic brain injury in children and young people, an experience that continues to guide his work with resilience and recovery.

Dr. Graham’s therapeutic style blends structure, direction, and warmth. Trained in multiple evidence-based therapies (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)), Dr. Graham often works eclectically – a skill developed through experience - integrating different therapies that he adapts to each client's unique needs. His sessions are collaborative and reflective, helping people understand the contexts and patterns behind their struggles and develop tools for lasting change. Whether working with children, adolescents, or adults, he focuses on building trust and creating an environment where clients can safely explore, understand, and heal.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Graham has held senior roles in multidisciplinary teams. Trained in clinical supervision by the Oxford Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme, he provides training and supervision to other psychologists. His experience also extends to forensic and prison settings in the UK, and he has served as an Independent Expert Witness for Family Courts, providing psychological assessments for both children and adults.

Outside of traditional clinical work, Dr. Graham took a career break to volunteer with an NGO supporting street children in Quito, Ecuador, a time that deepened his sense of compassion and cultural understanding. These experiences, combined with his calm and insightful personality, shape his ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Today, at Doctor Reuter Medical Center in Dubai, Dr. Graham continues his dedication to helping others navigate life’s challenges with integrity, sensitivity, and professionalism. His clients often describe him as someone who truly listens, who helps them make sense of their experiences and find a way forward, one step at a time.
